This five-story,
freestanding Women's Center located on DeKalb Medical
Center's main campus offers 18 LDRs with adjacent family
areas, three surgical suites, a Level III NICU, and 62
private postpartum rooms.
The interior spaces are designed to evoke a warm, home-like
atmosphere with stacked stone accents, wood floors and trim,
and comfortable seating. A two-story atrium allows natural
light to permeate the building's public spaces.
Patient convenience is maximized with below-grade parking
and multiple covered entrances. The entire complex is
connected to the main hospital via two elevated and
conditioned connectors.
The project was constructed during a period of very high
construction labor and material inflation but was delivered
with an overall project savings of more than $1 million.
