SAINT JOSEPH'S
HOSPITAL OF ATLANTA
Clinical Expansion
Atlanta, Georgia
The project consisted of a 2 story 44,000 sf vertical addition
to an existing patient tower to accommodate 48 new inpatient
beds and support and clinical functions. The project
included the relocation of the main Pharmacy, Voice and
Swallowing, and other support functions. The existing
Central Sterile department was then expanded to upgrade
services and accommodate increase surgical volumes.
The location of the vertical addition on top of occupied
patient floors. The confined area available for
construction staging created a number of challenges for the
design and construction team. The team worked very closely
with hospital staff, engineering, and infection control to
insure that patient safety was never compromised.
The scope of work also included equipment additions and
upgrades in the central energy plant to accommodate this and
future additions to the hospital.
