Surgery And Emergency Department
Atlanta, Georgia
The Collins team supported Piedmont's internal Facilities department on what is most likely the most difficult renovation project the firm has ever undertaken.
To expand the Emergency Department, space between two existing buildings was in-filled and the adjoining spaces were then renovated. The project included expansions and improvements to the cafeteria and loading dock and a connecting bridge.
Piedmont's inpatient Surgical Services department was then completely reconfigured and updated with an 8-phase renovation plan. Because of the site's internal location on the campus, access for construction materials and forces was limited to an opening in the roof. Detailed infection control and phasing plans were developed for each of the various stages of the project to minimize impact on existing hospital operations.
